Why You Should Use Kitchen Downlighting

By Louis O. Rollins

Most homeowners probably want their kitchens to be attractive, comfortable, clean and bright but the electricity bills that pay seems to be increasing every time. With this, how can we have an attractive and bright kitchen? Can our lighting system help us cut down our energy expenses while allowing us to have the kitchen that we always want?

Luckily, kitchen downlights are much more efficient compared to the electricity needed to light up incandescent lamps which most houses often use. They are advantageous to use, not only for being functional and decorative lighting that last for years, but because they also save you a surprising amount of money over their lifespan.

Nowadays, many homeowners like lightings that give an illusion of more height to make the area more spacious. That's why they consider down-lighters in their lighting plans because they lie within the ceiling level.

Moreover, another reason why homeowners love to use this lighting system is because they are more hygienic and easier to clean. They have no cables or wires dangling down which can catch dust or grease. Downlights also allow better positioning for illuminated areas as the lighted areas can be best adjusted based on needs whether for aesthetic or practical functions.

Whether for practical or aesthetic point of view, installing downlights for every homeowner's kitchen also permits better positioning for illuminated areas as the array of lights can be adjusted to best suit your needs.

You should also understand that using incandescent light bulbs as your lighting system can heat up your kitchen more. In fact, they become very expensive for the wrong purpose because only 10% of their energy is converted to light production and the other 90% is converted to heat. Therefore, the energy they use is converted to heat, more than light.

In contrast, there is another type of lighting system that is designed to focus on light production.

In contrast, there is another type of lighting system that is designed to focus on light production - Downlights, especially LED. They give little or no heat at all because they are designed with fine construction that takes away any heat build-up.

Remember!

The vert first step you can probably do after you install your light bulb to your kitchen is to identify the exact number of downlights you want or need. This is easy for anyone because it's more on personal preferences.

And because electricity is dangerous and it could kill you, evaluate your electrical skills or knowledge first before you install the lamp. Ask yourself whether you can install the lighting yourself or should you get an electrician in.
